Crystalline structure of cellulose in wood after chemical modification using cyclic acid anhydrides (maleic and succinic)

چکیده
The chemical modification of wood can be directed to improve various properties, e.g., the dimensional stability, hardness and/or durability against weathering. In this study, a Romanian softwood species Abies alba Mill. was treated and chemically modified using two cyclic acid anhydrides, i.e., maleic succinic, its interfacial properties relative unmodified wood. Structural changes, with focus on evolution crystalline part in after modification, water absorption, repellent efficiency, were determined. Maleic anhydride exhibited lower reactivity towards substrate than succinic anhydride, presumably because their different structure (maleic is very sensitive presence water). It found that percentage absorption diminished, primarily treatment. characterized via Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy wide-angle X-ray diffraction methods. from evidenced relation employed approach.

Phthalic, maleic and succinic anhydrides have been reacted with aromatic amines to obtain the corresponding monoacid monoamides. The latter have been each transformed into the corresponding cyclic imide derivatives by treating with SOCl2. Alternatively, anhydrides have been reacted with methanolic KOH to obtain monomethyl ester derivatives which on reaction with aromatic amines in the presence ...

Beryllium succinate dihydrate [Be(C4H4O4)](H2O)2 is formed in the reaction of equimolar quantities of beryllium sulfate, succinic acid and barium hydroxide in aqueous solution at pH 3.2. Sodium, potassium, and ammonium bis(succinato)beryllates M2[Be(C4H4O4)2] are obtained using the same reagents in the molar ratio 1:2:1 and adjusting the pH to 6.3-6.5 with NaOH, KOH or concentrated aqueous ammo...

متن کاملMaleic acid and succinic acid in fermented alcoholic beverages are the stimulants of gastric acid secretion.
Alcoholic beverages produced by fermentation (e.g., beer and wine) are powerful stimulants of gastric acid output and gastrin release in humans. The aim of this study was to separate and specify the gastric acid stimulatory ingredients in alcoholic beverages produced by fermentation. Yeast-fermented glucose was used as a simple model of fermented alcoholic beverages; it was stepwise separated b...
